    伺服器機房的功用是放置企業伺服器,通常搭配散熱、通風和滅火等外部裝置以確保安全性和穩定性。伺服器機房可能是大型數據中心的一部分,也有可能是組織營運使用的私有數據中心的別稱,伺服器機房內多台伺服器可能符合伺服器農場的定義,如果伺服器之間互相連接,亦可組成運算叢集

    如同數據中心,伺服器機房分為三個層面:運算、儲存和網路。運算和儲存層面由伺服器所組成,採用機架式伺服器可加強便利性和節省空間,使用者透過網路層面遠端操控伺服器。不斷電系統(UPS)可避免服務中斷,事先準備當機恢復程序和數據備份計畫也有助於確保機房可用性。
