  • 伺服器農場是什麼?
    伺服器農場又稱伺服器叢集,指的是數台伺服器(可能多達數千台)集合在相同位置,藉此提供更好的功能性和可及性。把伺服器放在一起有助於管理者進行中央監控及達成規模經濟效益,如果單一系統發生故障,其他伺服器可協助分擔工作。

    伺服器農場和運算叢集有些共同點,但伺服器農場的每一台伺服器都能分開執行不同工作,而運算叢集有如單一系統,多台伺服器互相連接協力完成一個任務。「伺服器農場」和「數據中心」兩個名詞有時被混著用,但一般而言,伺服器農場是將很多伺服器集合放在一起,數據中心則是容納伺服器農場的特殊場所,搭配散熱、通風和滅火等外部設備,提供全年無休、高可用性的服務。

    實務上,將伺服器集中放在一起合乎邏輯,因為這麼做便於資訊部門維修和保護伺服器安全、亦可降低營運成本。如果伺服器互相通聯並安裝叢集管理軟體,伺服器農場也能扮演運算叢集的角色。
