  • 基板管理控制器是什麼?
    基板管理控制器 (BMC) 是一種小型專用處理器,用於遠端監控和主機系統的管理。通常基於 ARM 的 SoC(System on Chip)內建圖形和邏輯控制,通常位於電腦、伺服器、網路或儲存裝置的主機板上,可通過專用或共用網路遠端存取,並且具有多個與主機系統的連接,使其能夠通過感應器、快閃記憶體 BIOS/UEFI 監控硬體,通過序列或實體/虛擬 KVM 提供主控台存取權限,紀錄主機和日誌事件的電力循環。

  • 為何需要?
    BMC 的主要優點是允許系統管理員遠端執行各式不同的監控和管理工作,而無需實體連接到系統,例如電力循環、安裝 BIOS 或韌體更新,並監控風扇的速度和系統溫度。如果硬體發生狀況(例如硬碟、風扇或電源供應器需要更換)或產生其他錯誤或故障,BMC 便可以通過電子郵件或簡訊通知管理員。

    BMC 在人力和節省時間上非常的有效率 - 管理員不再需要與機架中的每個伺服器進行實體連接即可執行維護作業。在現代數據中心中,可能有數百個機架和數千台伺服器,如果沒有BMC將無法進行維護。因此,資料中心中使用的所有伺服器和其他設備(如交換器、儲存裝置、電源設備等)現在都配備有 BMC。
